“The Chicagoan” Chicago’s First + House

Posted by myplushome May - 24 - 2010 - Monday

The first Plus House built in Chicago will be appropriately named “The Chicagoan” to represent our great city’s mission to become a green, healthy and sustainable place to live.

This 3 Bed, 2.1 Bath home will feature all the modern amenities that todays buyer deserves and wants.  At the same time this home strives to maximize it’s sustainability and healthiness by shooting for a 400 Plus score on the Chicago Green Building program.

The decision to name this home “The Chicagoan” harkens back to the 1933 World’s Fair, held here in Chicago.  At that exposition, Sears introduced its kit home that allowed homeowners to build for less while reducing the waste that went into typical construction at the time.

Over 75 years later, we hope that homes like “The Chicagoan” can carry on the message of sustainable and affordable housing for the average city dweller.  Our goal is to make living and building in our great city a truly forward thinking experience, that will improve the lives of future generations here in Chicago.
